Georgia Aviation Technical College Awards Advanced ATC Radar Simulator Contract to Gallium Software Inc.
OTTAWA, CANADA - May 15, 2006, -- Georgia Aviation Technical College (GAVTC) announced today the award of a contract to Gallium Software Inc. to provide an advanced air traffic control (ATC) radar simulator system to the college.
"We are very pleased with Gallium's ability to provide us their I-SIM simulation technology which places us at the forefront of ATC training capability in the US," stated Andy Lundell, President of GAVTC. "GAVTC's focus is to provide our students with the very best education experience and technical training possible - and that includes our new ATC program."
According to Ed Weathersbee, GAVTC Aviation Program Director, We quickly realized the uniqueness and high level of system fidelity and performance that I-SIM provides; this is a tremendous asset to our program. As an important part of the College's new ATC program, this advanced simulation capability and fidelity level for en route Display System Replacement (DSR) and Common ARTS is not found in other collegiate ATC training programs today.
"Our students will not only learn all about ATC skills development in our simulation lab, but they will also accumulate a vast amount of ATC systems experience including DSR and Common ARTS. Our goal is for GAVTC program graduates to be able to walk into an ATC facility and be prepared to work the operational ATC systems and displays."
"Gallium Software is very pleased to be partnered with GAVTC and provide them this high fidelity 'turnkey' simulation capability for their new ATC training program," stated Raymond Petty, Gallium's President and Chief Operating Officer. "Our goal is to supply all our customers with the highest performing visualization and simulation capabilities, in a responsive and flexible approach to support their individual requirements. Gallium's I-SIM technology provides simulation training capabilities not readily available today."
"Global ATC demands are increasing and controller expertise is paramount. In the United States, the FAA faces the replacement of more than 12,000 controllers over the next ten years and we look forward to helping GAVTC and others develop ATC professionals for the years ahead. Only the complementary use of high fidelity simulation systems can accelerate training syllabi and create the state-of-the-art learning environment that both GAVTC and the FAA desire to solve this training issue; we are proud to be part of these solutions, " said Mr. Petty.
"Gallium's leading product, InterMAPhics®, enables Gallium to rapidly develop/ replicate ATC displays of any type. When coupled with I-SIM, Gallium's simulator delivers a level of realism not seen in competitive simulation systems today. We believe I-SIMs unique design and modern graphical tools will enhance not only the training experience but allow instructors to create and or reproduce training scenarios more efficiently therefore saving valuable time and money. " said Bob DeRoode, Vice President, ATC Systems.
