Gallium I-SIM delivery to Georgia Aviation Technical College
September 21, 2006 was a significant day for Gallium Visual Systems as it handed over its latest I-SIM Radar Simulator to Georgia Aviation & Technical College in southern USA.
Contracted in April of this year, Gallium delivered 25 positions of its flagship Radar Simulator, I-SIM, to this prestigious aviation training institute as it commenced a new Air Traffic Management program. The simulator will allow the school to train future air traffic controllers in both en-route and terminal (near airport) operations.
With HSIs developed using Gallium’s core InterMaphics product, and supported with a simulation engine developed by Gallium to accurately model all phases of en-route flight—including aircraft performance, wind and weather, radar data, and emergencies—students will train with a system that matches virtually pixel per pixel the operational systems used by the FAA today in its Air Route Control Centers and Terminal Radar Control Centers.
The Georgia Aviation system comprises 16 student radar controller positions, eight pseudo-pilot positions and one supervisor/instructor position. It mimics different aircraft and other agencies involved in air traffic control.
Twenty-five positions of “I-SIM Connect” were also installed to enable students at different positions of the simulator to pass voice messages to each other, and for the instructor to monitor all network voice traffic activity.
