Gallium Visual Systems' InterMAPhics Software Selected For U.S. Navy Cruiser Modernization

OTTAWA, CANADA – April 3, 2007 – Gallium Visual Systems Inc., a leading provider of display rendering software for performance critical systems, is pleased to announce that their InterMAPhics software has been selected by prime contractor Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT] for an upgrade of the Aegis Weapons System as part of the U.S. Navy's Cruiser Modernization program.

Originally developed for the U.S. Navy by Lockheed Martin, the Aegis Weapons System is the world's premier naval surface defense system and is the primary component of the sea-based element of the U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense System. This phase of the Cruiser Modernization program will upgrade the Aegis Weapons Systems on seven cruisers (CG-52 through 58) to provide improved threat detection, enhanced anti-air warfare performance, and to help transition the system to a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Open Architecture computing and display environment.

“The Gallium team is proud to support the Navy and Lockheed Martin in the development of Open Architecture combat systems," said Leif Olsen, President, Gallium Visual Systems Inc. "We have always focused on providing software that satisfies the needs of the world's most demanding display systems. The Navy Open Architecture model's emphasis on license software has made it easier to do business and provide improved support. As a result, we are able to provide the Navy with software designed for application evolution via licensing that achieves significant Total Ownership Cost avoidance.”

“The collaboration that we have had with the Gallium team is an example of how an open technical architecture and open business model enable Lockheed Martin to deliver best of breed components from industry," said Rich Calabrese, Lockheed Martin's director for Advanced Naval Systems. "This core rendering capability is ready to be used across the Navy Enterprise as a reusable component in line with the Navy's open architecture objectives. ”
